Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith
The sun had setted and then out came the moon, as it got darker and darker.
Tonight was the night I had a wonderful feeling. My friends and I were going to
look for food but there was one small problem. I had never flown and I wasn’t
sure I knew how.

Tonight was the night I was going to take the biggest leap of faith. “Let's go and
look for some food,” my friends suggested.  I agreed because I was really hungry.
“Hey wait for me!” I said as they flew away.

I was shaking so bad. It was like I was on the edge of a cliff hoping not to fall into
the lava at the bottom. I was being encouraged by my friends so I slowly lifted
one foot. When I lifted my foot up I felt very nervous and shy because it was
my first time. And then I leant over about to jump my talons were shaking so fast.

There I jumped! The wind picked me up so I spread out my wings like an angel,
then I started to flap them, I couldn't believe I was flying. I would never imagine
me ever completing my scariest goal. All of my friends were cheering for me,
I also felt very proud of myself. Then we set off looking for food.

Today for writing I read a poem called Leap Of Faith. Leap of faith is a narrative about a bird going to fly for the first time. So in writing we created our own version of the poem.

9 x Table strategy

Today for maths Josh and I created a DLO about 9 times table and how to solve it easier by using the 10 times table. This DLO has a video of me explaining the solving the equation and how it works.  Example -
 9 x 7 = 63
7 x 10 = 70
70 - 7 = 63

2 day wonder poem

Winter :  When I wake up in winter im in a mood not well no smiles and always freezing. I walk to school feeling deserted, the street is so muted it's like everyone moved out. When I walk to school I drag my shoes scraping my the ground leaving a long trail. The gate steps aside and lets us in.

Summer : When I wake up in summer its a beautiful day, flowers are blooming birds are chirping and on days like this everyone’s outside and joyful. The school gates welcome you in, and all you hear is laughter filling the air. When the bell rings no one rushes to class.

Today we have been writing our own version of Two day wonder by David Hill. We read this poem to under stand how to use juxtaposition and the two differences of having a good day and a bad one. Our version of this poem was describing our day walking to school in winter and summer.

Reading - Harry's War

For reading this week, we read a story called Harry's War. We read this story with my reading group. The we were to create quite a few DLO's. Our first DLO is about  vocabulary. This DLO  showed all the new words in the story. The Challlenging part was that we were to find the synonym and antonym. Following that we created a DLO called Evaluation. This DLO shows what we learnt from the text, questions we have after reading, and what the text was about. The third DLO was about the Bulford Kiwi. In that DLO we were to find, different facts, and information about the Bulford Kiwi. For these tasks, I worked with Jack, Sanujan, Jericho, Mataio, Savelina, and Zane.

For the start of the week for term 2 LS2 has been learning about the a sophisticated picture book called Memorial. This book is about a tree that is planted beside a war memorial monument after the war. This book features a young boy which is the narrator of the story. This book also features his dad, Grandpa and Great grandpa who had fought in the war. We had worked on activities of this book, The activity I chose to publish onto my blog is settings. For this activity we needed to find out the peritext, images and texts. This was quite a hard challenge because we needed to use our smart searching skills to finish this activity.
